What are FITOK SilcoNert® 2000 (Sulfinert®) Coated Products?

Natural gas samples often contain varying amounts and types of sulfur compounds, which can interfere with reaction or poison catalysts in many petrochemical processes. Because sulfur compounds quickly react with stainless steel surfaces, accurate determination of these compounds is impossible when using untreated sample cylinders. In order to prevent sulfur adsorption, passivation treatment is performed on the surface of the substrate, we also call this passivation technology "silanization", and the passivation layer is also called "SilcoNert® 2000 (Sulfinert®) Coating". SilcoNert® 2000 (Sulfinert®) technique bonds an inert silica layer into the surface of the stainless steel. This layer acts as a barrier, preventing active compounds from reacting with or adsorbing to the stainless steel. Sulfur and mercury compounds exhibit greatly increased stability to SilcoNert® 2000 (Sulfinert®) coated cylinder, which can be applied to the following fields: analytical process, environment detection, downhole sampling from petroleum and natural gas wells, as well as monitoring and control of oil refining and petroleum processes.

A wide variety of parts can benefit from SilcoNert® 2000 (Sulfinert®) Coated Products. In general, if there are any species in your streams which are reactive or corrosive, all metal components in the sample stream should be shielded. When sampling, storing, or transferring organo-sulfur compounds, always classify wetted parts. Plan to use non-adsorptive parts or else plan to passivate all stainless steel parts. This will save possible troubleshooting efforts later in your work.

FAQ:

What are the size limitations for FITOK products with SilcoTek coatings?

Fittings and Valves

FITOK can have the SilcoTek coating for most of the fittings and valves. FITOK send the parts of valves and regulators prior to assembling to SilcoTek for coating and will assemble the parts at FITOK factory under the guidance of our quality systems.

Why does the exterior surface of internally-coated tubing sometimes look different from coil to coil?

SilcoTek’s process for treating coiled tubing results in a uniform coating throughout the interior of the tubing from end to end. The exterior surface of coiled tubing is not coated, but it will exhibit a change in appearance after being oxidized by the high temperatures of our CVD coating process. This resulting external appearance will vary based on the specific elemental composition of the tubing substrate.
